Intercultural drinking

WAB last night, good times (but I think the beer used to be better there).

I remembered that in Germany, you learn how to drink beer at around the age of 15 by mixing wheat with coke. I told some of my friends before, and I got strange looks. So yesterday we ask the bartender to fill up my half full wheat with coke, which he actually did without hesitating. Footnote: it tastes even better with 3/4 wheat and 1/4 coke, and the girls often even use Banana juice instead of coke.

So the "Cola-Weizen" glass makes the round, and everybody was surprised of the taste. "Those damn Germans" was one comment of amazement out of many.

Anothere good drink: regular beer mixed with Sprite, then called "Radler". Now the interesting part is that the German word "Radler" means "Biker" in the US.

Drink up boys and girls! Prost!

I worked at a pub in England and over there they call that Sprite/beer combo a shandy. Like "I'll have a lager shandy!". Oh, and they also call Sprite "lemonade"...which is just weird. I remember the first time someone ordered a bitter shandy. When they told me what it was, I thought they were joking! :)

The "lomonade" thing is not too weired for Euros.

In Germany, "Limonade" is pretty much stuff that tastes like Sprite. Actually, the Radler drink is made out of "Limonade" and "Bier", and not Sprite. But this would have been to complicated and too long, just like this comment ended up being now.
