Boyne "Marathon"

Are 44 miles a Marathon? Not really, but it certainly were enough miles for me this time... two days ago I decided to race this weekend. What a great idea after just having ridden over 300 miles the 7 days before the race!

Unfortunatelly I realized that it wasn't a great idea after the race had started (actually I expected that to happen, but was hoping it wouldn't be too bad). In lap 2 of 4 on the 11 mile course my legs started to scream. So I switched the strategy and dropped into 100 mile race pace. I'm experimenting with new race nutrition, so it was a good way to test that. Test-result: Stomach held up.

Today I'm glad I raced, it was a good and hilly (the Boyne course has 1100 feet/11 miles) end to a couple of hard days of riding...

Check out teammate Roberts blog, he got 2nd in the race!

The Dolppinator in pain...

Unbelievable, but right at the moment I got confirmation that I'm not the only stupid person in the world:
A guy with a log on his shoulder just ran by my window - this is NOT a joke!

And there are Germans you can rely on:
The soccer team won the "small" World-Cup final, 3rd place for Germany!!!

300 miles over 7 days before the race? You are a crazy man. I took a light week before Boyne. Just 292 miles.

Glad you had fun Alex.
