Trans Iowa training ride #1
Wow, looks like everybody is talking about Iowa V.2 - I better go out and train. Wanted to have a long bike weekend, but we also had the MI Endurance cup awards ceremony and dinner on Sunday on the west side of the state, and I live in the east. So, think andurance - ride your bike.
I saddled my bags on Saturday around noon, hit the dirtroads, and 5 hours and 85 miles later was at Jim's house in Lansing. He cooked great dinner, I'd call it "enhanced mac & cheese", so we were ready Sunday morning to hit the road together for the last 60 miles to Cannonsburg. I don't know what he put in the meal the day before, but we were flying.
Showing up at the party on the bike felt good. And it was even better that my teammate Steve (who, by the way, won his age group category) gave me a ride home.
It was fun seeing the people from the races again, hang out, have beer and chat about the upcoming 2006 season.

Steve and myself in our shiny new jackets we got for winning. They are custom monogrammed with the endurance cup logo, our name and position.
